“Hammer wrenches eh?!”
“Phone lights up with a chime I hear 10 times a day. 2:40 am another call coming in. (Rig crew are busting apart the BOPs, hammer wrenches in hand).
Company man cracks a joke and I tell him, “I’ll see ya soon”. I have plenty of time but if I get there fast I can help the rig hands hammer down the BOPs & move over.
There’s no better feeling than taking the hammer and wrench from an already worn out hand and seeing the look of relief in his eyes.
Out here we’re all brothers with a common goal. Earning the guys respect on every location is my ultimate goal.
I’ll bring a smile, I’ll bring some jokes, and a fresh set of arms to assist wherever possible.
My favorite is when I hear, “that’s not your job” and with a big smile and a body catching it’s breath I reply, “I know”.
They may not know my name but they’re still my brothers out here and I’ll always share the load. – Travis Vitek”
